Artwork by Helena Doyle (unframed approx 30cm x 10cm).

'Passementerie_001'. Materials include Cotton cord, paracord, handmade cord, cotton yarn.

Helena Doyle is a multi-disciplinary artist, filmmaker and educator working across mediums including installation, sculpture, video, textiles, street theatre and land art. Cords and ropes are central to her practice, often crafted from found, foraged, or waste materials. Her work draws inspiration from folk and traditional textile crafts from around the world, exploring the universal threads that connect them. By reimagining these crafts through contemporary waste streams, from fast fashion to discarded fishing nets, she explores what new meanings and values can emerge in our throw away age.

This work explores the endangered craft of passementerie through contemporary materials and process. Woven on a four-shaft table loom using paracord, cotton cord, and a hand-made cord produced by the artist, it reflects on the preservation and transformation of traditional textile techniques within a modern context.
